Benedictory Remark by Dr. Nii N. Quaynor,
UN ICT Task Force Member
Hello, I am Nii Quaynor, Director of Enterprise
Africa, UNDP Project. His Excellencies, ladies and gentlemen, I
am thrilled as I stand here, not only because I participate in the
celebration of a decade of absolute research and development, but
I have the honor to make this modest contribution by way of an address.
I recall with nostalgia, when Netpia.com was launched, as a proud
and active Internet operator, with a longing for the demystification
of the industry, I stand here to concede to re-designate the true
meaning and relevance of the computer. If they were not the answer
for the search for the ideal ownership of the Internet by community,
as a right in digital space, I do not know what else is. Need we
recall that with passion and challenge, as it drivers, Netpia was
concentrating on the developing technologies related to Korean Internet
Address and Names as well as user-friendly environment in Korea,
who are using Korean as their native language during these ten years.
This, I believe, would serve as a rallying point for cause to reduce
the digital gap, activate oNLIAe participation and contribute to
advancement of various applications. Please accept my felicitations,
recalling your singular goal of developing and providing Native
Language Internet Addresses and Names in 95 countries to narrow
down the digital gap, worldwide. As a .gh ccTLD admin, I look forward
to the testing phase of NLIA implementation in Ghana and West Africa,
using Netpia technologies. Another hallmark of yours has been the
active participation in the international fora, meetings and conferences
where Internet addresses are relevant. As examples, I have observed
your participation in ICANN, UN ICT Task Force, IETF and others.
For such a lot of achievement, within the short space of ten years,
please accept my sincere felicitations. I will convey my experience
to my colleagues at the UNDP and UN ICT Task Force. Congratulations
and thank you!
